Video lecture: Exponential businesses and manufacturing businesses

2019-09-25 | 2 min Logistics and Manufacturing

What changes does digitalization bring to industry and logistics? Which new technologies will have the greatest impact on production and supply processes? What do manufacturing companies need to prepare for in connection with exponential technologies?

The lecture by the President of ANASOFT, Michal Hrabovec, explains the trends of digitalization and its impact on the automation of industry and logistics. Along with innovative technologies such as the Internet of Services (IoS), neural networks, or cyber-physical systems, the President of ANASOFT explains the basic aspects of the digital ecosystem of the enterprise and intelligent and autonomous process management.

Cyber-physical systems form the digital ecosystem of the enterprise and the basic premise of the Smart Factory. This system ensures the functional connection of the real (physical) environment of the enterprise with its virtual counterpart. In practice, this means connecting production and transportation equipment, materials and goods with software components.

The digital twin as a virtual copy of a physical object is a concept known from the 1970s, mainly thanks to NASA, which helped with the Apollo 13 rescue mission. Since then, it has been used continuously with minor variations, primarily as an analytical tool for creating simulations, models and interpreting data, for example for the purpose of optimizing processes.

However, digital twin technology is currently experiencing a renaissance, mainly as an autonomous intelligent agent, which is used for complex process management. It is the digital twin that enables the use of collective intelligence in industrial processes, the transformation of ordinary objects into intelligent things, as well as the expansion of employees' cognitive abilities.
