Digital Manufacturing 2020: Collective Intelligence in Smart Manufacturing | Video

2020-10-19 | 2 min Logistics and Manufacturing

How to effectively optimize and automate logistics in production and inventory management? What is the practical use of collective intelligence and digital twins in production and logistics processes?

Industry and logistics are among the sectors at the center of the digital renaissance and intelligent automation. Business models and operating procedures are undergoing a gradual transformation, and companies are adapting them to new standards of functioning through leaner, more dynamic and agile methods brought about by digital technologies.

Collective intelligence is one of the technological trends and tools whose importance will grow as companies transition to smart production. In addition to the autonomization of production and supply operations, collective intelligence also contributes to expanding the flexibility of operational processes. This technology allows for shortening the reaction time to internal and external circumstances and at the same time improving the company's response to non-standard situations or sudden and unexpected changes.

The technology that enables the use of collective intelligence in digital automation solutions is primarily autonomous intelligent agents (software bots) - digital twins. In addition, digital twins are also used to synchronize production and logistics, most often in the form of dynamic production logistics - Milk Run 4.0.

A lecture from the Digital Production 2020 conference focused on the latest challenges associated with the digitalization of industrial production presents two case studies of innovative projects that use the technologies and principles of collective intelligence and digital twins. The projects presented represent two forms of automation and increased efficiency of corporate supply: dynamic Milk Run and intelligent warehouse management.
