Digital technologies and digitization are taking supply and warehouse management to a new level. The current trend of more intensive supply chain integration and deployment of intelligent solutions for material flow management is also reflected in the digitalization and automation of warehouses. Current WMS systems are already being replaced by a new generation of intelligent WES management platforms with extended modularity and scalability.
Logistics and material flow management processes are in the midst of a digital renaissance. New technologies and principles brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the advent of the smart industry are transforming inventory, flow, and intra-company logistics management practices and processes. Warehouses and warehouse processes are often the first step in automating the supply chain and logistics, also in light of the ever-growing e-Commerce industry.
Fourth Industrial Revolution inventory technologies such as the Internet of Services (IoS), virtualization, digital twins, and artificial intelligence tools are already enabling a generational change in inventory and warehouse management. Part of this generational change are WES systems (Warehouse Execution System), which better meet the complex demands of omni-channel distribution.
You can learn more about the generational change in supply management, the dynamization of material flows, as well as the accelerating automation of warehouse operations and processes from the video lecture.
