ANASOFT litera 2016 award goes to Brazil

On Monday, September 19, Slovak literature experts as well as readers learnt the name of the winner of the 2016 Anasoft litera award. The prize has been granted to authors of the best Slovak prosaic book or the translation of original prosaic book of writers who are the citizens of the Slovak Republic or the translation of their books into the Slovak language. All of these works had to be published in the previous year. The winner of the 11th Anasoft litera award is Peter Macsovsky. He has received the prize for his novel Tantalópolis.

Peter Macsovszky has won Slovakia’s most significant literary prize Anasoft Litera for his novel Tantalópolis, described by the jury as "a stylistically original, multilayered text which can be read as travelogue, self-referential prose, as well as a novel depicting the difficult quest for the spiritual at a time of the cult of the body”.   

The jury composed of reviewers, literary theoreticians, translators and journalists (Zuzana Bariaková, Marta Součková, Stanislav Vallo, Radoslav Passia and Petr Minařík) nominated following ten finalists from among 191 other works:

Peter Macsovszky: Tantalópolis (Vyd. Drewo a srd / Vlna)

Jaro Rihák: Pentcho. Príbeh parníka  (Marenčin PT / SANDBERG Film)

Vanda Rozenbergová: Slobodu bažantom (Vyd. SLOVART)

Peter Šulej: Spolu (Marenčin PT)

ANASOFT litera 2016

The literary prize Anasoft Litera has been awarded yearly since 2006 to the best original Slovak work of fiction or translated work of fiction written by a Slovak author, published in the preceding year. The Anasoft Litera 2016 winner Peter Macsovszky received the prize money amounting to 10,000 euros awarded by the exclusive partner and sponsor of the prize, the software company ANASOFT. During the 10-year history the prize was awarded to: Marek Vadas, Milan Zelinka, Alta Vášová, Stanislav Rakús, Monika Kompaníková, Balla, Víťo Staviarsky, Veronika Šikulová and twice to Pavel Vilikovský.

The readers’ prize went to Dušan Dušek with his prose Ponožky pred odletom published by Slovart Publishing Ltd.
