When Toys Find Their Way into the Hands of Adults

Men are from Mars and women are from Venus. The different perception of matters by different genders is frequently explained in such a simplified way. It all begins in childhood.
If Kinect and Xbox are at the disposal of a girl, she will most probably use it as her personal fitness or dance instructor. Boys prefer something more combat-related or strategic. And how does it look when toys find their way into the hands of adults?
When Microsoft introduced Kinect for Xbox more than five years ago, it most probably did not occur to the producers that this device would one day become part of a manufacturing line...
Kinect serves for the confirmation of manufacturing operations when handling sensitive production components. This use is interesting especially in the demanding automotive segment, where the location of additional devices increases the risk of damage to components and tools.
The use of Kinect enables the remote control of manufacturing by gestures. This new approach to the traditional method of controlling assembly lines has been successfully deployed in Slovakia where Kinect is used for the recognition of the movement of workers in production.
