autonomous synchronization of logistics and manufacturing | milk Run 4.0
The aim of the project was to achieve balanced and efficient utilization of transport equipment supplying manufacturing workstations with input material and transferring semi-finished products between individual workstations. The system EMANS ensures autonomous synchronization of logistics and manufacturing as well as the automation of manufacturing logistics in the shopfloor of Tier 1 automotive supplier Matador Automotive.
Project Assignment:
- On-time material delivery to assembly workstations
- Transfer of semi-finished and finished products from production lines for further processing
- Intelligent management of transport equipment capacities
- Optimization of capacities of material handling and transferring equipment
Implementation:
- Implementation of Smart Industry system EMANS
- Connection of production lines, supermarkets (warehouse), Milk-Run tuggers and supervisor´s and dispatching office into an in-house network of internet of things (IoT)
- Creating a virtual copy of the shopfloor through digital twin technology
- Deployment of dynamic Milk-Run system (Milk Run 4.0)
Result:
- Improvement of transport equipment efficiency
- Reduction of logistics downtimes at production line due to the lack or missing material
- Overall decrease of transport downtimes on the shopfloor
- Operative manufacturing planning on production lines
- Monitoring of production lines tact and cycles
- Visualization of transport demands for operators of transport equipment
- Assuring balanced utilization of transport equipment based on actual demands of material transport
- Monitoring and reporting available on mobile devices
